Shorts are fine. Come to Dallas, people. It’s 105 for days on end in the summer. An untucked polo shirt (or a light button-up, short sleeve or long sleeve rolled up) is a perfectly fine adult look. The alternative is what? Linen pants? Talk about looking affected. As for the shoes issue, try loafers or plain tennis shoes with low rise socks. Obviously not wearing them to work but weekends and evenings it’s fine.

Never Shorts are the ones enslaving themselves to outdated notions of fashion, manhood, and insecurity. First rule of clothing: be comfortable. Everything else should flow from that.
