Older people can also be/become greedy, obsessed with protecting their wealth and prerogatives at the expense of others’, and are simply more likely to be bigoted and fearful by virtue of the time and place in which they grew up. They also can be saddled with dementia, anxiety, Alzheimer’s, and other mental health issues, especially as they get into their late-70s. They are not all wise, old sages. Some are. Many aren’t. What is undeniable is that a 68 or 78-year-old voter has far less stake in the future of this country than a 28-year-old voter simply by virtue of the fact that the younger voter has to live in this country for another 50 years while the others will be dead.
